We left for Washington on the 17th of January. The flight left in the afternoon and with stops and plane changes took about 7 hours. My father and Susan met us at the airport and we went to my father's new house in Machias. It is a really nice house with a barn and riding arena for the horses. Riley couldn't wait to ride one of the horses. While we were there it was too rainy to go on a trail ride, so Susan sattled up the horse and rode with Riley around the arena first, and then let Riley ride the horse by himself! We were able to spend two nights and then had to leave to met up with my mother.




My mother and Tom are living in a new house too in North Everett. It is an older home that she and Tom remodeled prior to moving in. The house has lots of character. Brian came down from Bellingham. It was fun to see him again. He told about us about his life since we had left and planned on coming down to Granddad's too. Unfortunately, Scott had been home for Christmas break and had to go back to school. We just missed him by a few days.

We headed down to Granddad's on Saturday. He looked great and was excited to meet his great-granddaughter and also to see Riley again.




Riley had fun playing video games with his older cousins.





Granddad's party took place at Uncle Jim's house and everything looked very festive. In between dinner and the birthday cake there was lots of picture taking:
