We left Friday morning, July 27, to go camping on the Olympic Peninsula. The children and Timber were very excited. We followed my mother and Tom to the ferry in Edmonds and rode across to Kingston. Then it was a three hour drive to La Push on the coast of Washington. Our first campsite was in La Push on the Indian Reservation. The beach was beautiful and there were lots of dogs out playing in the sand. The surfers reminded us of Pacific Grove down in California.

Near the end of the beach was a large sea stack. These interesting formations dot the shoreline of the Washington coast.

After we set up camp we went for a walk on the beach. Timber ran straight for the water and jumped in. He was so happy to be out of the car. While we were walking we realized the long drive had made us all hungry so we headed back to camp and Tom cooked up a delicious chicken dinner. Then we went back to the beach to play frisbee.

Timber was trying to get in on the action too.

Riley and Taylor were pretty tired and fell asleep around 11pm. The night started out quiet, but the surfers' party really got going around 3am. We didn't get much sleep after that point. In the morning we decided to pack up camp and move to another campsite (hopefully one that was a little more family oriented. We headed south and ended up at Lake Quinalt. The lake was breathtaking with the mountains in the background and the blue waters of the lake. There was a nice campsite with a great spot for the pop-up and our tent.

Shortly after arriving, a young girl and her father came over to meet Taylor. Marie was from France and the two little girls enjoyed playing together. Marie had two older brothers and with another four boys at the camp there was soon a football game going. Todd and Tom also joined in.

We went on a little hike near the campsite so Timber could get some exercise. There were some huge trees!

We came back to camp and the boys played an exciting football game.

Tom is doing some strategic planning with his team.

Right next to our campsite was the largest Sitka Spruce in the world. It is over a 1,000 years old. The massive size of the trunk was incredible!!

Nearby the campsite was the Lake Quinault Lodge. We went over to have breakfast before heading back to Seattle. It was a beautiful day and the sun felt great.

Riley and Taylor enjoyed their own table at breakfast.

After lunch we headed to the lake for a swim. It was hard to get back in the car and come home.
